Rapido at its ‘Peaks’

-

RAPIDO Trains UK has announced that it is “filling one of the biggest gaps” in the N gauge diesels available with a range of three classes of ‘Peak’ locomotives. It will be starting off with the Class 44 locomotive, before following up with Class 45 and Class 46 at a later date.

The term ‘Peak’ was first applied to the Class 44s as they were named after English and Welsh mountains, with the affectionate nickname also being applied to the later two classes.

Rapido’s models will include directional lighting, an array of separately fitted details (including handrails and windscreen wipers), an etched radiator fan grille with separate fan beneath, and plug-in discs to enable to modeller to apply their own chosen headcodes.

Prices had yet to be set, with advanced orders due to open once further design work has been completed.

Amid the nine versions being offered is preserved example D4 Great Gable in BR Blue, which is based at the Midland Railway in Butterly.
