Figures that appear in a ‘timeless, dream-like world’ are the subject of a solo exhibition at St Albans’ Nude Tin Gallery. The free show features work by Julie Maginn who describes herself as a ‘day dreamer and night thinker’ and her latest work as ‘modernistic portraiture in an expressionist style’.
The Harpenden painter works mainly in oils using a glazing technique to enhance the colour of her paintings so they become richly hued – an effect that shifts depending on the light or position of the viewer. Julie says the colours are dictated by the emotion she sees in the emerging faces.
Until November 10, evening reception November 2.
