Two Herts restau­rants are en­ter­ing the new year in cel­e­bra­tory mood af­ter land­ing top ac­co­lades. The Fox and Hounds at Huns­don and Crockers Chef’s Ta­ble at Tring (above) are among win­ners in the Miche­lin 2019 awards line-up.

Run by chef James Rix, the Fox and Hounds for the seventh year has been awarded a Bib Gour­mand, high­light­ing restau­rants that serve ‘high-qual­ity food at a rea­son­able price’. It is the only one in the county to hold the award.

Crockers, founded by chef Luke Garnswor­thy and fea­tur­ing menus cre­ated by head chef Scott Barnard that change ev­ery month, has been awarded a Miche­lin Plate, which high­lights ‘good cook­ing, fresh in­gre­di­ents, ca­pa­bly pre­pared: sim­ply a good meal’.

The Fox and Hounds was also run­nerup in the Ob­server Food Monthly 2018 awards cat­e­gory for best Sun­day lunch.
