Second term for chamber of trade president

-

HINCKLEY and District Chamber of Trade has re-elected current president Rosemary Wright to the role for a further term.

Rosemary, a former Conservative borough councillor and a local businesswoman, was first given the position last year after the chamber went through a relaunch.

In the time she has been at the helm the group, which represents retailers and businesses in Hinckley and across the borough, has seen an upsurge in members and an increase in activity.

Among the successes has been lobbying for better shopper access and car parking for the top end of town and a pledge to take action on what could be seen as too many charity shops in the centre of Hinckley.

Rosemary said: “I am honoured to have the confidence of our members to have been elected for a second term and especially so as I have the most fantastic group of hardworking people on the committee, they are second to none and we work as a great team together.

“During the next year the chamber will be involved in further increasing their membership and being involved in all aspects of the town and borough which affect their member businesses and which also affect the many residents who use them.”

The chamber is moving into its new season with a presentation by senior Government minister Marcus Jones MP at the Atkins Building on September 20, details to be announced.

The campaign for car parking for Castle Street remains on the agenda, following the closure of the Co-op car park, but a new deal between Arriva and Hinckley BID means free transport from The Crescent up to Castle Street for shoppers all this month. If successful the trial may continue.
