All four faces on the St Mary’s clock tell different times

-

AS I left Hollycroft Park on Sunday afternoon after an excellent concert by the John Cleveland Band, I met an old friend from the hosiery trade who remarked that he thought there may be a few more might attend.

When I said that it coincided with Father’s Day, Burbage carnival, Euro 2016 and other attractions, he said ‘it is now impossible, especially when the weather is unpredictable, to predict how well things will go’.

Looking back a couple of days previously on Friday I met a friend from Barlestone in Hinckley and we went to the 4th Nuneaton and Bedworth Camra Beer Festival at the Nuneaton Co-op Sports Social Club in Dugdale Street.

I was quite surprised to see the Nuneaton Co-op Store nearly empty but it was closing on June 18.

The two places in Nuneaton I have most frequently used these past few years have been Riversley Park and the Co-op.

As I walk around town I often out of habit look at St Mary’s Church clock and on Monday I did so and noticed the time which was incorrect.

I became curious and I looked at the other three clock faces and all four were incorrect by several hours in each instance, though all different from the correct time in Hinckley.

I am sure given time all will be sorted out and I look forward to this.

But a station master when told by a traveller that the two station clocks were telling different times, the station master informed him that there was no point in having two clocks if they showed the same time. Terry Langham, Hinckley
