New deputy manager for hotel under refurbishment
A HOTEL which is undergoing a £1.5 million refurbishment has a new deputy manager.
Anthony Wickenden, who has 17 years experience in the hospitality industry, is now part of the management team at Sketchley Grange Hotel and Spa in Burbage.
The 37-year-old studied at Chichester College of Arts Science and Technology for his GNVQ hospitality and catering intermediate and advanced qualification in 1995 and has since gone on to gain experience in a variety of roles at hotels and other venues up and down the UK.
One of his key aims as the new deputy manager is to bring the community into the hotel.
He said: “We’re really keen to get local people involved with what we’re doing at Sketchley Grange and re-introduce them to the hotel and all of the new products we’ve got to offer.
“I’ve recently moved to Burbage and I think it is really beneficial for me to live in the local area – it allows me to get a better feel for the community which the hotel serves.
“I am really looking forward to seeing Sketchley Grange continue to flourish – we’ve got some exciting changes happening and I’m really pleased to be a part of the team.”
Established more than 30 years ago, Sketchley Grange is undergoing extensive refurbishment, with a new look bar, lounge and restaurant area, refurbished rooms and improved Romans Health Club.
