Three in a row for revitalised Hinckley Town CC

-

A REVITALISED Hinckley Town made it three wins on the trot by beating Lutterworth by five wickets.

After losing their first six games of the season, Hinckley are now clear from the drop zone by two points in 10th place. They will be hoping to build on their momentum when the host third-placed Syston next weekend.

On Saturday, Lutterworth won the toss and decided to bat first.

They quickly lost two important wickets of Oliver Pickering and Lewis Hill with the score on 26 for two.

Steven Masic showed some restraint but was eventually LBW bowled by captain Craig Crowe for 40 runs.

Lutterworth slipped to a miserable 72 for five after 27 overs and it soon became 83 for six following some slick bowling from Hinckley.

A seventh wicket stand of 32 between Craig Wilson and Karl Smith helped Lutterworth to 115 after 36 overs.

Smith was then caught out for 20 by Crowe, thanks to the bowling of Mo Pardesi.

At 118 for eight it looked all over, but the final two wickets put on 29 runs leaving Lutterworth for 148 all out in the 49th over. Hinckley spinner Pardesi took three wickets for 27 runs, while Sukhvir Singh and Billal Pardesi took two each.

In return, Hinckley started poorly losing two wickets for 21 after just seven overs.

Ben Coddington was bowled out for zero and skipper Crowe for 14.

At the half-way stage Ben Silvers was bowled out for 31, leaving Hinckley on a worrying 81 for four.

But a fifth wicket stand of 60 between Carl Crowe and Will Hunt saw Hinckley approach the finishing line.

Crowe was out for 22 L.B.W to Cader with the score on 141 for five in the 37th over.

Hinckley reached their target after 38 overs with Will Hunt on 54 not out.

The victory earned Hinckley 25 points and Lutterworth three.
