What to expect from The White Bear pub
Official opening of Hinckley’s newest venue
LOBSTER burgers and slow-cooked beef brisket are just some of the options available at Hinckley’s newest watering hole.
The White Bear opened its doors a couple of weeks ago following a £150,000 makeover by new owners Steamin’ Billy.
Formerly The Sportsman Inn, the pub on Coventry Road has been relaunched as a beer and burger house.
Owner Billy Allingham claims it has the “best beer garden in Hinckley” and says he is “overwhelmed” by the sheer number of people through the doors.
He said: “The White Bear seems to have been really well received by customers, it exceeded our expectations by 50% in the opening weekend.
“We’re looking forward now to our official opening party on July 7 where the guest list is constantly growing.”
The Leicester-based brewers run The Railway on Station Road, but their latest venture is a whole new concept.
Here’s everything you can expect from the town’s latest eatery:
The Menu Burger lovers will rejoice at the great selection of meaty and vegetarian stacks on offer.
The handmade burgers include: a billy burger with crispy bacon, red onion marmalade and melted red Leicester cheese, the Vietnamese burger featuring a spiced pork patty with Asian slaw, red pepper and chilli relish, a pulled pork burger in a Chinese hirata bun and a beefed up burger containing eight-hour slow cooked brisket in a sticky sweet beef sauce with homemade slaw and parsnip chips.
The brave can attempt to devour a steamin’ inferno burger lathered in homemade flaming scotch bonnet relish, Sriracha hot chilli mayonnaise, Nanami Togarashi chili pepper with melted monterey jack cheese.
Vegetarians are also catered for with a sweet quinoa burger, a grilled bean patty, a flaming falafel and a Portobello stack of grilled mushrooms, aubergine, goat’s cheese, sun-blushed tomato and cashew pesto.
Those with a sweet tooth will be happy with a selection of desserts such as cheesecake, dark choc- olate brownies, ice cream sundaes and thick and creamy milkshakes topped with chocolate.
