Showcase event fun at Crescent

-

A SHOWCASE has been held to celebrate Hinckley’s £60 million retail and leisure complex The Crescent.

The event, arranged by Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council, the Tin Hat Partnership and GBR Phoenix Beard, featured fun, music, dancing and giveaways.

The Arts Academy of Dance put on a display while It’s The Beatles, a tribute to the Fab Four, entertained the crowds.

People were also able to sample goodies from some of The Crescent’s occupiers.

The Crescent is home to Sainsbury’s (including Snap Fitness and Timpsons), Cineworld, TK Maxx, Prezzo, Wed2B, Costa, Tarro Lounge, Elbow Room, FAB, Burger King, Simply Gym, Mobility and Lifestyle, Poundland, GHM! and Rossini.

A new arrival this autumn will be handmade burger specialists Meatcure. Other tenants are due to be announced shortly.

Councillor Amanda Wright, executive lead for cultural services at the council, said: “This event was absolutely fabulous. Despite a few brief summer showers the turnout was superb and the Beatles tribute band and the dance troop provided great entertainment.

“My huge thanks goes to all The Crescent businesses which were involved in this event including Wed2B’s Sharon Pegg and staff entertaining visitors with wedding cake and prosecco, Fab Noodle offering food samples and also Sainsbury’s and Cineworld staff who were exceptional and joined in the celebratory atmosphere.

“As a town we should celebrate and encourage The Crescent. This multimillion pound Hinckley asset is driving up footfall and confidence in our town and combined with our other great facilities such as the brand new leisure centre, really makes me proud in Hinckley.

“I know we will go from strength to strength and instead of people feeling they need to go to Leicester or Nuneaton for shopping, residents from those centres will be coming to Hinckley. With The Crescent complex and the smaller speciality shops up Castle Street, there really is something for everyone.”
