Open day at care homes

RESIDENTS at Hinckley Park Care home raised more than £200 for Marie Curie during their fourth annual Care Home Open Day.

Friend and family also attended the event and enjoyed a range of activities from a Royal Tea Party, Zumba, a Pimm’s tent, entertainm­ent from Hinckley singer Kelly Jean and a chance to Sponge the Boss.

The money raised takes the charity total of HC-One, the company that owns the care home, to more than £21,000.

Sharon Butler, Hinckley Park Care home manager, said: “Today was a fantastic day for our residents, staff and guests to celebrate National Care Home Open Day. “Not only did we have lots of fun, including me getting soaked, but we also manager to raise money to be donated to Marie Curie - a huge £214 - an incredibly charity close to so many people’s hearts and I thank everybody for coming along to support the day.

The day was part of the internatio­nal Care Home Open Day scheme, which aims to highlight the important work that the care team does day in, day out, as well as creating links with the community.

Residents and relatives at the Willows Care Home held a “blooming great” tea party to celebrate their annual open day.

The Hinckley home, run by HC-One, hosted a beach-themed event to welcome visitors. The home also raised money for charity partner Marie Curie.
