Khan and Hackett put an end to winning run

HINCKLEY Town’s winning streak came to an end on Saturday when they lost away to Rothley Park.

The home side won by 58 runs which leaves Hinckley second from bottom, with only Earl Shilton below.

The result will be a major blow to Hinckley who looked revitalise­d after winning three on the trot.

On Saturday, Hinckley won the toss and chose to field first.

The away side started strongly with Billy Pardesi bowling Richard Williams and Alex Kent with successive balls to leave Rothley on five for two.

The score soon became 23 for three in the seventh over when Irfan Karim was caught in the slips by captain Craig Crowe, thanks to the bowling of Suki Singh.

A drinks break was taken after 26 overs with the Rothley on 78 for four.

Hinckley looked in a good position after 38 overs when spinner Mo Pardesi bowled Ben Aspell for five, leaving Rothley 128 for six.

But a seventh wicket stand of 75 between Hamzah Khan and Phil Hackett changed the game around.

Hackett was eventually bowled for 46, taking the score to 203 for seven.

Rothley finished on 211 for seven after their 50 overs, with Khan 67 not out.

Hinckley got of to a disas- trous start when Craig Crowe was bowled by Aaron Smith for one.

Ben Slivers joined Ben Coddington and they took the score on to 28 before Coddington was caught by Khan for three.

In came Leicesters­hire player M Burgess for his first game of the season.

He tried to take the game to Rothley with some aggressive shots, but was caught by Reid for 20 to make the score 64 for four in the 16th over.

Hinckley upped their run rate but started to lose wickets at regular intervals.

They reached 125 for six when Aleem Mahood was bowled out for 36 in the 28th over.

But following some poor batting they were all out for 158 after just 38 overs - giving Rothley a 58 point win.

Hinckley gained five points and Rothley 30.

Next week Hinckley visit fourth-placed Barkby United.
