HINCKLEY racing team Roger Clark Motorsport recorded historic back-toback victories at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in Chichester.

The racing team, based at Dodwells Bridge Industrial Estate, topped the time sheets for the hill climb for the second year in a row in their self-engi- neered 920 bhp Subaru Impreza STI car.

It was the first time anyone had achieved that feat and they did it against some of the world’s best automotive manufacturers and race teams.

Despite poor conditions meaning the team was a bit slower than last year, they still managed to fend off challenges from big-hitters McLaren, beating them by 0.78 seconds.

Although it was a team effort, driver Olly Clark and his brother and chief engineer Matt, sons of the late British rally legend Roger Clark, contributed greatly to the victory, using the skills honed from their Suburu business to prepare to the highest standard possible.

The race was broadcast live on TV as well as taking place in front of 125,000 spectators, who all seemed delighted with the winners.

Olly said: “To be here at all is such an honour, but to win here is something that is almost impossible to describe. I feel humbled that we get to race with such amazing names, and it’s fantastic to be on track with so many of my heroes.

“It’s been a team effort throughout, with my brother Matt performing literal miracles during the run up to the event and the entire staff at RCM, and our families and sponsors giving more support and assistance than we could have ever asked for. It’s been a literal dream come true, and I would like to give my heartfelt thanks to everybody that got us here.”

The team will be returning to the track next year to see if they can get a hattrick of victories.
