They were released on police bail on Tuesday evening last week.

Leicestershire Police said in a statement: “A man and a woman arrested on suspicion of manslaughter by gross negligence have been released on police bail.

“It follows an incident at Bosworth Water Park, near Hinckley, on July 23 2016, in which five-yearold Charlie Dunn, who came from Tamworth, drowned.

“The man, who is in his 30s, and the woman, who is in her 20s, were also arrested on suspicion of child neglect and have been bailed in connection with these allegations. Enquiries are continuing.”

The Tamworth youngster had been enjoying a summer day out with his family when his body was found in the park’s Blue Lagoon lake.

An inquest into Charlie’s death was opened and adjourned on August 8 last year.

It was re-opened and adjourned several further times by Rutland and North Leicestershire Coroner Trevor Kirkman to allow police to continue their investigations into the death.

No official cause of death has yet been given.
