New massage parlour in village goes above board

BOSSES behind the new massage parlour in Barwell have lodged a change of use application after advice from council officers.

Aroma Massage in Chapel Street opened late last year in a former hair salon.

It’s seriously saucy social media presence raised eyebrows among residents, resulting in an official complaint to the parish council.

Villagers also went online to ponder the enterprise with comments both for and against.

Proprietor Claire Jardine denied untoward practices were being peddled on the premises saying it was merely “a massage parlour with a happy ending”.

However, a visit by parish councillors did reveal the new venture, which offers services such as “skin to skin slides” and has snaps of scantily clad ladies on its website, probably required a change of use application.

A submission has now been lodged and is awaiting a decision by officials at Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council.

When borough and parish councillor Huw Williams went along to the venue following the initial unease he said: “Barry Granger and I talked to the owners about the concerns of residents expressed on Streetlife and we found that it appeared to be well run and they were even considering an open day so residents could visit and understand their business.”

In answer to residents disquiet Aroma boss Claire has said: “We are a new business specialising in aroma massage for both ladies and gentleman in a sensual environment. This is not a sex shop or an escort agency, far from it, and is a very discrete business and one that will be run very professionally. Hoping we can all be good neighbours and that you will support my new business venture.”

She stressed she was not running a brothel, adding all her staff were qualified masseuses and that the website was meant to be deliberately provocative.
