Get your council tax paid for a whole year
THERE’S a chance for one lucky household to be more than £1,500 richer this financial year thanks to a council tax competition.
Families in Blaby district, including Stoney Stanton, Sapcote and Sharnford, have the opportunity to pay nothing towards the levy simply by switching to online billing.
People have until Saturday April 29 to sign up to pay by direct debit and receive email notifications instead of letters through the post.
It’s part of Blaby District Council’s drive to make it easier and quicker for residents to pay the tax as well as help reduce its own costs and save staff time.
Every person who signs up will be entered into a prize draw and one lucky winner will get their council tax wiped off for 2017/18.
A spokesman for the authority said: “All people need to do to enter is set up a council tax direct debit and turn on paperless eBilling through the My Account section on our website.”
People who already pay by direct debit and have a Blaby District Council My Account, opting to receive paperless bills will be automatically entered into the prize draw, however, those who pay by direct debit but don’t have a My Account will need to register for one.
