Cup competitio­ns take stage for Sunday League

IN the County Premier Cup, Sporting Dynamo ensured their place alongside FC Topps in the quarter finals with a goalless draw at Oadby Owls.

Market Bosworth travelled to Stoke Golding in the County Premier Shield and although unable to qualify for the quarter finals alongside Stoke Golding they came away with a creditable 2-0 victory.

Goals in the second half came from Tom Alesbrook and Calum Duncan.

Duke of Rutland went down on their travels at Sileby Athletic losing 5-2 with Joe Dungannon and Liam Fisher on target for the Duke.

Enderby Social also lost by the same scoreline at St Matthews Dynamos to exit the competitio­n.

In the County Intermedia­te Cup, Three Horseshoes won their delayed semi-final beating The Community Football Academy on penalties 4-1 after extra time.

They will now meet Moira United in the final at Holmes Park on Thursday March 30, kick off 7pm.

In the Bond Street Trophies Premier Division, FC Topps eventually overcame a weakened Tin Hat 2015 and gave themselves a real chance of honours approachin­g their last five league games. However despite going four up after 20 minutes, Topps were pushed back on the defensive for the rest of the game and Tin Hat got back to 4-3, only missing a share of the spoils through a missed penalty in a game they could have won.

The PWS Leicester Division Two saw top spot change again as Plough Inn used their game in hand to leapfrog Wykin after winning 12-1 at nine-man MP Steel.

Five to the good at the break they cruised through the second period with their goals coming from Dave Darragh(4), Kyle Sperry (3), Steve Oliff (2), Jack Anderson (2) and Jack Morgan.

AFC Barn ensured a midtable place with a 3-1 win at Newstock Rangers Reserves in the Printing Works Division Three with their goals coming from Steve Billings (2) and Damien Haswell.

Barlestone Athletic and Totes Hilar shared the points from a 3-3 draw.

Two late goals from Chris Barber saw The Holywell take the points from a 2-0 win over Stoneycrof­t United which saw Holywell go above their opponents into third spot.

The Les Moore Memorial Cup, first round saw Royal Oak Bitteswell go through after a 2-0 win at EST Lord Nelson.

Goals in the last quarter from Phillip Hill and Patrick Stenhouse for Oak.

The Presidents Shield kicked off with First Division champions FC Bulls Head winning 3-2 against LK United with Alan Hayton and Andy Wakefield amongst their goalscorer­s in the first half.

LK dominated the game after the break and Leon Coleman scored two and had two cleared off the line to make the second leg interestin­g.

Stanton United OB won against Newstock Rangers from the league above thanks to the only goal of the game from Jake Vineham from the penalty spot.

Red Lion gained a very creditable draw at Anchor Inn with Mark Foster scoring for Anchor after 30 minutes and Brad Miles equalising for the Lion with a clearance that travelled into the net from 60 yards via the cross-bar in a game enjoyed by both teams.
