Hill’s unbeaten record ends

BARLESTONE C continue to impress with their recent results and they defeated George Ward D by eight sets to two, writes Mike Holt.

The surprise was two defeats for the previously unbeaten Roger Hill (George Ward E). His set with Cameron Lightfoot (Barl C) went to a fifth game with the younger Barlestone player just edging it 11-8 in the fifth. In his next game Hill succumbed to the in-form Alex West er by( BarlC),C going down 9-11 in the fourth game.

Hill then beat Will Baggott in his final game. Both Lightfoot and Westerby were unbeaten for the Barlestone side.

Barlestone continued their good form defeating Cat E by eight sets to two. Will Baggott (Barl C) taking the limelight with three well-earned wins including the scalp of Eddie Kwok (Cat E).

Their next match with their closest rivals G War dE proved to be a very tense affair. Dave Richardson (GWE) with three wins. GWE led five games to two at one point but Barlestone C fought back to claim the draw at five sets apiece. Alex Westerby winning two for Barlestone.

RE Studios 2 defeated George Ward C by eight sets to two. The match was much closer than the score-line suggests with no fewer than eight sets going to either four or five games. Gary Rhodes was outstandin­g winning his three for the home side. Chris Thomas collected two wins for GWC.

Cat E overcame their own G team by eight sets to two. Alec Downes in fine form with three wins.

G WE overcame their own D team to claim a nine sets to one victory. This result keeping them in prime position to secure second place in the table come the end of the season. Both Edward Brown and Frankie Hallam winning all their games and Alana Richardson winning two of hers.
