Celebrate Easter with area’s churches

EASTER is the high point in the Christian calendar.

All around the borough, churches will be rememberin­g the Biblical story of the last supper, Jesus’s crucifixio­n and resurrecti­on with special services on Maundy Thursday, walks of witness and times of reflection on Good Friday and celebratio­ns on Easter day.

Here are some of the services and church events open to all:

Maundy Thursday April 13 Hinckley Methodist Church communion service reflection on the Last Supper at 7pm. Hinckley St Peter’s RC Church mass at 8pm followed by vigil until midnight with The Last Hour marked from 11pm. Burbage Pentecosta­l Church combined service for Burbage free churches at 7pm. Barwell St Mary’s united communion service 7.30pm. Earl Shilton St Simon and St Jude’s holy communion 9.15am. Earl Shilton United Reformed Church holy communion 7.30pm. Market Bosworth St Peter’s celebratio­n of the Last Supper 7pm. Good Friday April 14

Hinckley Salvation Army meeting 10am.

Hinckley 10am.

Hinckley St John’s all age worship 10.15pm.

Hinckley Churches Together walk of witness from St Peter’s RC Church to Hinckley United Reformed Church 11am.

Hinckley St Mary’s afternoon vigil with prayers, hymns, spoken word and silence, from 12.30pm to 3pm, come and go as you please, and 7pm Cross of Christ service led by the church choir.

Hinckley St Peter’s RC Church community liturgy at 3pm and community stations of the cross, in the church grounds, at 6pm.

Burbage Higham Way Baptist Church 10am.

Barwell village hall children’s activities, 9.30am to 10.30am, led by members of St Mary’s and Barwell Methodist churches.

Barwell St Mary’s hot cross bun service at 11am following a walk of witness, then stations of the cross service at 7.30pm.

Earl Shilton walks of witness leaving St Simon and St Jude and St Peter Methodist Church and St Paul’s RC Churches at 10.30am for united service at Earl Shilton Methodist Church at 11am .

Earl Shilton St Simon and St Jude time of reflection from 2.30pm to 3.45pm with prayer stations, drop-in at any point or stay for the whole time.

Market Bosworth open air service in the market place at 11am following a walk of witness from Pipistrell­e Drive starting at 9.45am and followed by hot cross buns in Market Bosworth Free Church.

Market Bosworth St prayers at the cross 2.30pm.

Barlestone Witness at the Wheel procession from the Baptist chapel at 10am for open air service at the pit wheel at 10.45am, then 6pm reflection at St Giles Church. Peter’s

Easter Day April 16

Hinckley St Mary’s 8am communion with hymns, 10.15am all together Easter communion followed by Easter egg hunt, 6pm Risen with Christ readings and hymns for Easter day.

Hinckley St Peter’s RC Church masses at 8am and 9.45am.

Hinckley Methodist Church communion at 8.30am followed by breakfast then family service at 10.30am.

Hinckley Salvation Army meeting 10am.

Burbage Higham Way Baptist Church family service at 10.45am.

Burbage Infant School Easter celebratio­n and holy communion at 10.30am hosted by Burbage Methodist Church.

Barwell St Mary’s holy communion at 8am, parish family communion at 10.45am and holy communion at 6pm.

Barwell Methodist Church holy communion at 8.15am and all age celebratio­n at 10.45am.

Earl Shilton Methodist Church holy communion at 9.15am and Easter celebratio­n at 10.30am.

Earl Shilton St Simon and St Jude all age holy communion at 10.45am followed by Easter egg hunt.

Earl Shilton St Peter and Paul RC Church Easter mass 11.30am.

Market Bosworth St Peter’s service of light at 6.15am and eucharist at 9am.

Market Bosworth Our Lady and St Gregory’s RC Church mass at 9.30am.

Barlestone St Giles Easter communion led by Canon Sue field, acting Archdeacon of Loughborou­gh at 10.30am.

Barlestone Baptist Chapel Churches Together Easter celebratio­n 6pm.
