Success for club at English Open event
BURBAGE Taekwon-Do Academy had 11 students competing at the English Open TaeKwon-Do Championship held at Guildford Spectrum.
Leading the way were black belt competitors Danielle Williams IV Degree - Gold Senior Ladies Sparring, Bethany Frisby I Degree - Silver Junior Girls I Degree - Sparring and Niamh Connolly I Degree - Silver Junior Girls I Degree - Black Belt Patterns
Excellent results from all, some tough divisions and competitors and our experi- enced Black Belts all performed to a very high standard.
On the second day of the Competition the Colour Belt Team also performed to a great standard. Some very big divisions with some team members going through seven rounds to achieve their National titles. For some of these students it was their first competition with some great experience gained.
These included: Neil Fieldsend 8th Kup - Bronze Veteran Yellow/ Green Belt Patterns & Bronze Veteran Sparring; Lexi Darley 3rd Kup - Gold under 14 Girls -155 Blue Belt Sparring & Silver 10-13yr Blue Belt Patterns; Harry Hayes - Silver -155cm Blue Belt Sparring; Adam Kelly 7th Kup - Gold Senior Yellow Belt Patterns & Gold -65kg Senior Sparring; James Thomas 8th Kup Bronze Yellow Belt Patterns;
Leo Moss 7th Kup - Gold under 10s Yellow Belt Patterns; Harry Wilkinson 8th Kup - Bronze under 10s Yellow Belt Patterns.
A club spokesman said: “Well done also to Daniel Stockwell although he didn’t achieve medal position he won some of his rounds and gained experience for next time.”
Over the two day competition there were 465 competitors from 82 Schools throughout UK and beyond.
Burbage TaeKwon-Do Academy finished in the top ten Schools.
“The whole weekend saw some excellent standards, large divisions and tough competitors so well done to all that attended; you all did Burbage Taekwondo Academy proud.”
