Cross Keys play final match in league losing 1-0 to Dynamo

IN the Bond Street Trophies Premier Division, Cross Keys played their final match at leaders Sporting Dynamo and went down to the only goal of the game to end their season and their long associatio­n with the league.

On Thursday night Sporting had also beaten one of their rivals for the title, FC Topps after racing into a 4-0 lead. Despite being down to nine men Topps pulled one back in the second half to make the final score 4-1. Market Bosworth went down to the only goal of the game against Stoke Golding with the goal coming just before half time. They also lost to Enderby Social 2-0. FC Topps maintained their chances of finishing runners-up with a 2-1 win at Duke of Rutland.

The Hardy and Draper Carpets Division One runners up spot will go to the last match of the season after FC Topps Reserves beat Three Horse- shoes by the odd goal in nine.

The PWS Leicester Division Two remains unresolved after the two top teams clashed. Plough were awarded an early penalty which Joe McKenna saved only for Wykin to score from the spot themselves through Steve Goodman Hamlett. Luke Richards then ran the Plough back four ragged before the break adding a first half hat-trick. The Plough were the first to strike in the second half when Kyle Sperry scored from the spot. Goodman Hamlett then made it 5-1 before the Plough were reduced to nine men after two second yellow cards. This spurred Plough on and Sperry and Jamie Dexter reduced arrears before the numerical advantage told and Wykin added three more through Richards, Goodman Hamlett and Ryan Cheshire to win the game 8-3 and leave the destinatio­n of the title to the final game of the season.

In the Printing Works Division 3 Stoke Golding Reserves and Totes Hilar shared the points from a 2-2 draw.

The Presidents Shield saw an entertaini­ng game at The Holywell where Stoneycrof­t United were the visitors. Paul Carnell with a goal in each half and Jack Brooker and Scott Maxwell in the first half scored for Holywell with Brad Ball, Haydn Read and Stephen Blighton responding for Stoneycrof­t. Holywell going through to the Semis with a 4-3 win. They will play Thurlaston Magpies who knocked out Stanton OB 6-1. Dave Leeson scoring the Stanton consolatio­n after keeper Gary Clark had also saved a penalty. Anchor Inn are also through after an 8-0 second leg win over Red Lion. Mark Foster scored a first half hattrick with Chris Ridley (2), Adam Morris, James Wykes and Mark Iliffe also on the score sheet.

LK United are through to the Semi Final of the CS Constructi­on Junior Cup after knocking out Barlestone Athletic 5-2 after extra time. Danny Rai (2), Leon Coleman, Danny Concannan and Scott Doutre scoring their goals with Luke Pettitt and Daniel Collings replying. Royal Oak Bitteswell win contest the Les Moore Final after beating Newstock Rangers Reserves 5-2. Two goals each for Anthony and Chris Read plus a Patrick Stenhouse opener will see them up against last season’s beaten finalists AFC Barn who beat Newstock Rangers 5-1. Matthew Wright (2), Tom Ward, Damien Haswell and Steve Billings scoring the goals.

Stoke Golding went out of the County Premier Shield at the quarter final stage after losing a penalty shoot against Oadby Athletic. It was 1-1 at the end of normal time and extra time was goalless before Oadby went through 4-3 on penalties.
