Lib Dems launch election campaign in the borough

-

CAMPAIGNERS turned out to support the Liberal Democrat Parliamentary candidate for Bosworth who is hoping for votes in the upcoming General Election.

Michael Mullaney has come second to Conservative David Tredinnick the last two times constituents went to the polls and is hoping it will be third time lucky.

During the recent county council elections Mr Mullaney was successful in retaining a place at County Hall, taking Hinckley’s De Montfort seat.

He is calling on voters to back a candidate who both lives in the constituency and has campaigned for years on essential borough issues.

Pleased with the turnout at the Lib Dem campaign launch, held at Hinckley’s New Plough Inn, Mr Mullaney said: “This election is the chance for people to get a real change in our area. On June 8 people in Hinckley and Bosworth can elect a new MP who lives locally and campaigns on the real issues of protecting our local NHS and education services.

“In recent years I helped the campaign to save Hinckley’s ambulance station when it was threatened with closure and campaigned to save Hinckley’s second fire engine when the Combined Fire Authority threatened to remove it. As Bosworth MP I could achieve even more for our area.

“At the last two general elections I came a strong second to Mr Tredinnick.

“Labour finished third and cannot win in Bosworth. If people want change in our area they can get it by supporting me to be their new MP in the election.”
