Names released of M1 death crash victims

TWO MEN who died following a collision on the M1 have been named by Police.

Antony Richard West, 53, from Buckingham and 57-year-old Andrew William Chevis from Banbury, died in the incident which took place at 4.10pm on Tuesday July 4 on the southbound carriagewa­y between junctions 20 and 19.

The collision involved three vehicles, a white Fiat 500, a black Vauxhall Corsa and a white cabbed HGV lorry with a red container.

Both men were in the Fiat 500. The driver of the Corsa received hospital treatment for minor injuries. The driver of the lorry was not hurt.

The motorway was closed for several hours for rescue and recovery work and to allow officers to carry out investigat­ions of the scene. Rush hour traffic was severely affected

Police later issued a witness appeal which is now being repeated by Detective Sergeant Mark Watling.

He said they were keen to talk to anyone who saw the vehicles either before the crash or actually witnessed the collision.

He added: “I am keen to speak to anyone who hasn’t as yet contacted police.

“The informatio­n you have could help our investigat­ion so please get in touch.”

Anyone with informatio­n is asked to contact police on 101 quoting incident 454 of July 4.
