Waxing lyrical about company’s history
HINCKLEY’S branch of WH Smith raised more than £320 for charity following a series of activities held to celebrate the company’s history.
This month, staff hosted a number of successful attractions to draw in customer support and share WH Smith’s 225th birthday celebrations.
The excitement began with a hair-raising leg waxing.
The Post Office’s Luke Horsley joined WH Smith’s Kai Arnold and Craig Brown as the trio took centre stage in front of customers for all to watch their painful ordeal.
On Sunday, the store presented a lucky dip tombola in which customers could win a variety of prizes from a bag of chocolates to jigsaws and perfumes.
The event came to a close on Monday afternoon following a cake sale with cakes donated by employees.
The three-day fundraising event was the latest in an ongoing charity campaign the company is executing throughout the year.
The total raised will contribute to the store’s £2,000 target for the year that will be shared between Cancer Research UK, Mind Mental Health and the National Literacy Trust foundations.
The store’s current total is just over £1,500, but they hope to continue fundraising far past their target to give as much as they can to each charity.
The fundraising continued on July 9 when staff from both Hinckley and Nuneaton stores took part in the Race For Life.
