Cinderella opera is set for the Concordia
ROSSINI’S Cinderella, the most romantic comic opera of them all, comes to the Concordia in April for the very first time – and its a show that should not be missed.
A spokerperson said: “We’ve lined up one of our best-ever casts with a wonderful mixture of experienced principals, exciting young newcomers and talented chorus.
“We welcome the exciting young mezzo-soprano Hélène Ducos as Cinderella. Hélène is currently training at the Birmingham Conservatoire, having previously studied at music schools in France and at the renowned Mozarteum in Salzburg.
“We are sure that she will soon be singing in opera houses across Europe so catch her before the rest of the world does.
“We also welcome two more exciting young newcomers in their first major roles for the company – Becca Madden as Tisbe, one of the two wicked step-sisters, and Andrew Bowditch as the mysterious Alidoro.
“We also welcome back the ever- popular Alexander Anderson-Hall as Ramiro (the Prince Charming of Rossini’s opera).”
He is joined by local favourites Chris Marlow as Dandini, Debbie Dubberley as Clorinda (the other wicked step-sister) and Andrew Robinson as the sisters’ very pushy father Don Magnifico.
The show, directed and conducted by Nick and Janet Bacon, will feature gorgeous costumes, spectacular scenery and plenty of surprises.
Booking is now open to the general public. You can book your seats in all the usual ways. Go online at concordiatheatre.co.uk/ cinderella, book by post using a booking form or visit the theatre box office during opening times.
The show is on from April, 13 to 21.
