Modern play is not a simple tale of boy meets girl...

Stellar show coming to the Concordia

LOVE-STRUCK audiences and romantics at heart are being invited to enjoy a heartbreaking story of boy meets girl at the Concordia Theatre.

Constellations will sweep into the Hinckley theatre, based in Stockwell Head, on Saturday May 5 and Sunday May 6.

The story, by New Theatre Players, tells the tale of Roland, a bee keeper, and Marianne, who works in quantum physics, and who meet at a barbecue.

On paper, it’s a love story - boy meets girl, boy kisses girl, boy and girl fall in love.

However, things are a little bit more than they seem - the premise is that we exist in a multiverse, where time has no meaning and where any number of different versions of our lives are being played out at the same time.

Constellations is a beautiful portrayal of one relationship and infinite possibilities, and a play about small talk and big ideas.

As well as that, it’s about saying goodbye and also never having to say goodbye, telling the heartbreaking love stories and boundless potential of a connection between two people.

The play was written by young playwright Nick Payne and earned him rave reviews on Broadway when it opened there in 2012.

Co-directed by studio regulars Lyndon Vaughan Prosser and Joanne Holt, Constellations will also be the first play in the Concordia’s newly kitted-out studio which has new staging, lights and curtains.

Tickets cost just £6.50 and are available on-line now.

Seating is limited and so early booking is advised.
