THE Pathways Project at Hinckley Baptist Church celebrates its tenth anniversary this month with a week of special events.

Working with the local community and range of organisations, the group aims to help members of the community flourish.

Over the last ten years the team has worked with Mind, Prince’s Trust, Age UK, Foodbank and a range of other groups.

A host of complementary activities have been set up including the Journey Well, Singing Cafe and Take Break which focuses on working with dementia sufferers and their families.

Partner work with organisations such as Age UK and The Alzheimer’s Society have become a cornerstone of the Pathways Projects’ work.

A Computer Club has supported numerous people over the years while a weekly café offers a range of excellent value lunches on Wednesdays and Thursdays, feeding up the users of the groups on those days and providing a valuable ‘ drop in’ for local people.

The Hinckley Foodbank operates out of the Centre.

Groups are also hosted for young people such as The Drama Academy and Girls Brigade and Boys Brigade.

Pathways’ latest venture is ‘ Cornerstone’ which is a social group on Tuesday afternoons for older people – described as “an older person’s youth group”.

This is quite apt given that it provides the opportunity to meet others, do a range of different activities on offer and have free tea and cake.

It is open to all and growing nicely.
