Classic line-up for a lunchtime concert

-

PIANIST Julian Hellaby will be presenting a lunchtime concert of light classical music in the beautiful setting of St. Mary’s Church, Hinckley on Wednesday April 11 at 1pm.

Dr. Hellaby studied piano at London’s Royal Academy of Music and has performed in continental Europe, the Middle East, South Africa and throughout the UK, including recitals in the Wigmore Hall and Purcell Room.

He has taught academic music in UK universities and is an ABRSM examiner and moderator.

He will play an attractive programme focussing largely around early 20th century Italian and French music.

The music ranges from the atmospheric Nocturne by Respighi to Casella’s brilliant Toccata.

Debussy is represented by four of his Preludes as well as his ever-popular ‘Clair de lune’.

The concert opens with some delightful miniatures by Bach.

The concert will run for less than an hour and people are invited to take a packed lunch to eat before or after the concert with hot drinks on sale at the church coffee bar.

The event is being hosted by St. Mary’s Arts (SMARTS) and admission on the door will be £4 for adults and £1 for children and students.
