A CHORISTER who dreams of recording an album before his voice drops may turn to Crowdfunding to make his wish come true.

Twelve-year-old Sebastian Carrington from Hinckley has been a chorister at Coventry Cathedral since 2015 and sings there four times a week.

He has already passed a Grade 8 singing exam with distinction and was awarded a DipABRSM professional music qualification, also with distinction, earlier this year.

At the age of 10, home-schooled Sebastian was filmed performing in front of a studio audience for the prime-time ITV show The Voice Kids UK 2017 where his rendition of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Pie Jesu appeared to make quite an impression on celebrity coach and judge will.i.am.

But his real dream is to perform with a professional orchestra and record a series of songs as a solo album before his voice changes.

His mum Denise said: “He has just turned twelve, the age at which traditionally a boy treble’s voice is at its best.

“He’s hoping that he’ll have at least a year or two before his voice becomes deeper.

“Sebastian would love to sing with an orchestra such as the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment or London Symphony Orchestra but they could cost around £15,000 per day on top of venue hire and production costs.”

She said that the ideal would be for Sebastian to be signed by a recording company but that she was considering Crowdfunding to turn the dream into reality.

“Sebastian has his dreams but along with that he has determination and isn’t afraid of challenging work.

“He would put in the time and effort to make his dream come true. He just needs someone to believe in him and take a risk investing in him to preserve his wonderful voice for future generations to enjoy.”

Sebastian, who also plays piano and organ, is also passionate about science, having gained an A-grade GCSE in astronomy when he was eight.

He has his own YouTube channel which mixes clips of him singing along with science experiments and astronomical theorising.

One day, he hopes to become an opera singer, concert pianist, part-time organist and scientist.
