Adventure golf course comes to city centre

-

AN INDOOR golf adventure park is opening in Leicester’s Highcross centre this summer.

The business is the first of its kind in the county city centre, and is already looking to be one of the most anticipated openings of 2018.

Bringing a much-needed new leisure activity to the city, the indoor golf course will be themed like a rainforest – and come with lots of surprises.

To find out a bit more about the opening, we spoke to Elizabeth Stanway, Co-Founder and CEO of Treetop Adventure Golf.

Elizabeth used to have an office job before coming up with the idea for an adventure golf company.

She then met Chris Richards, an experienced leisure operator, with whom she co-founded the rainforest-themed mini golf chain.

After opening their first site in St David’s shopping centre in Cardiff, the team are now planning to bring the concept to more city centres, with Leicester being the second new location in the works.

Speaking about coming to Leicester, Elizabeth said: “We think there’s a really good opportunity to provide a quality leisure experience for the residents of Leicester.

“By opening at Highcross, with its shops, restaurants and cinema, we’re not just a destination, but a great activity if you’re out and about in Leicester.”

Elizabeth also revealed that the Leicester site will have two 18-hole mini golf courses, and while similar to the Cardiff site, will have its own new and unique features.

The immersive courses will be packed with light and sound effects, motion sensors and moving features.

Elizabeth said: “We like to say it’s mini golf, big adventure – it’s an all-out themed experience where you can escape from reality for a few hours.

“The good thing about mini golf is that it’s really inclusive. Everyone can come and have adventures together, whether it’s for a birthday party, family day out, date night or student hangout”.

Continuing the rainforest theme will be the Clubhouse café and bar, which serves a range of drinks from quality coffee to a bespoke themed cocktail menu.

The company will also have a focus on company days out, and hope that local businesses will choose the activity for get-togeth- ers in the city centre.

The first climbing and bouldering centre is set to open in Leicester city centre - and it could be open to customers from as early as this summer.

Social Climbing announced their plans on Facebook recently, and also revealed where they will be located.

The centre will be opening on the ground floor of Highcross, in East Bond Street.

It will be filling a unit that has been disused for some time, known for being covered with Leicester City murals.

The main attraction of the centre will be a head to head wall, where you can compete with friends on a timed speed-climbing wall.

There will also be a cafe and a comfy living room area to chill out and socialise.

The bouldering centre is the latest leisure activity announced for Highcross, as it was revealed last year that Treetop Adventure Golf would be opening in the former House of Fraser unit in 2018.

It will be the first business of its kind in Leicester city centre.

Social Climbing estimate that they will be ready to open to the public in June 2018 - so you might be able to get climbing very soon.
