Strategy to support carers set out in draft

-

CARERS in Hinckley and Bosworth are being urged to have their say on a strategy to help support them in their work.

The draft Joint Carers Strategy 201821 sets out a vision for priorities to help recognise, value and support carers.

Its focus is on unpaid carers and has been drawn up by Leicestershire County Council, Leicester City Council, Rutland County Council and the Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs) for Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.

Cllr Richard Blunt, county council cabinet member for adult social care, said: “Caring can be very rewarding, helping a person develop or re-learn skills, or simply helping to make sure your loved one is as well supported as they can be.

“Key priorities of the strategy have been identified to support carers to continue in their caring role and to maintain their own health and wellbeing.”

Partner organisations involved in the development of the strategy include Healthwatch (Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland), Alzheimer’s Society, The Carers Centre, Voluntary Action South Leicestershire (VASL) Barnardo’s and Age UK Leicestershire.

The consultation runs until midnight on 22 April.

A public consultation event is taking place at County Hall on April 18 at 5pm.
