Dog day care centre plans are approved

-

PLANS have been approved for farm land near Hinckley to be converted into a dog day care centre.

The retrospective proposal for Cold Comfort Farm on Rogues Lane includes for the internal partition of a barn and for an outside fenced exercise area to the south west of it.

The rest of the building is used for the storage of agricultural equipment associated with the farm.

A planning document said that the new wooden fencing around the exercise area, in replacing herras fencing with bamboo screening, would mitigate noise from the dogs as they would not be able to see the surrounding countryside.

It said: “It is likely the proposed acoustic fence would be two metres in height, and constructed in wood.

“The fencing would not be prominent, and additional landscaping could be provided to further mitigate any impact.”

The barn is to the north of the farm complex on a separate parcel of land, with open fields to the north and south.

Mature hedges mark out the field boundaries, with the site comprising an area of around 327.50 square metres.

Access is taken from the existing lane off Rogues Lane, which serves the wider area.

The business is licensed to look after 30 dogs and it provides a pick up and drop off service which equates to around six vehicle trips per day.

It operates Monday to Friday between 10pm and 4pm with no overnight accommodation on site.
