Micro pub opens in Earl Shilton

-

ALE lovers in Earl Shilton have a new watering hole to try out.

Shilton Vaults is a micropub on The Hollow and is sister pub to the Pestle and Mortar, which opened in Castle Street in Hinckley in 2015.

Managing the two outlets are Sue Summerill and Amy Davies.

Sue said: “We always said we would like more than one place as soon as the Pestle was set up.

“A lot of my regulars live in Earl Shilton and we hope the Vaults will encourage Shilton people to drink more in their own village. “It’s already had a lot of interest.” The new venue is slightly bigger than the Pestle and can seat around 60.

Sue said: “We offer a traditional pub atmosphere with no television or music just friendly chatter and quality ales, ciders, wine, fizz and spirits.

“And of course friendly staff, with gravy bones for our four-legged customers.

“If you’ve visited the Pestle in Hinckley then you’ll know the Vaults will be quirky too.”

The landlady has had a manic few months getting the new pub ready while fundraising for the Brain Tumour Charity, in memory of a longtime friend who died of the illness.

She took part in the London Marathon in April 2018 as part of her efforts for the good cause, finishing the course in 5 hours 57 minutes 43 seconds.

Shilton Vaults will be open Monday to Thursday from 2pm to 10.30pm, on Friday and Saturday from noon to 11pm, and on Sunday from noon to 10pm.
