Road rage incident appeal

A DRIVER claims another motorist drove straight towards him during a road rage incident.

The man was driving along Hinckley Road, in Burbage, at 12.35pm on Wednesday when he was tailgated by a black Peugeot.

The 27-year-old, of Hinckley, who does not want to be named, said: “I can’t think of anything that I did wrong.

“He pulled back into the lane right behind me and started gesturing at me, so I slammed on my brakes and pulled over because he was going to ram me off the road.

“I got out of my car to go and speak to him and he seemed to just put his foot down and drive straight towards me.”

He said he had to kick off the other driver’s bonnet and climb on to his own roof to avoid being hit.

“It was completely out of nowhere, I’m absolutely flabbergasted,” he said.

“It took me completely aback, I don’t understand the thought process that would get someone to drive at someone else.”

The driver of the black Peugeot did not cause any injury to the man – but his car wasn’t so lucky.

“It’s going to cost me hundreds, the garage told me to scrap it because the door is technically off its hinges,” he said. “But I can’t because I can’t afford a new car.”

The driver has contacted police to report what had happened.

A spokesman confirmed the report and said: “We received reports of a collision on Wednesday at 12.35pm.

“It is believed that the the owner of a car was getting out of his car when the other driver drove towards him before driving off.”

The driver has put a message on Facebook page Spotted Hinckley to see if anyone has CCTV footage of the incident.

Police want anyone who may have witnessed the incident or the events leading up to it to contact them on 101.
