Dick Jenkins in maximum form for George Ward

IN Division Two of the Hinckley Table Tennis League the action has come thick and fast.

G Ward C have started their season well with two impressive victories. Their first match saw them defeat Cat F by 10 sets to nil with new signing Dick Jenkins in maximum form. He carried that form into the next game against G Ward F, becoming the first player to inflict a defeat on last season’s top Div. 2 player Roger Hill (GWF). The set went to five games with Jenkins running out as winner 11-9 in the fifth to remain unbeaten. Both his teammates Rob Webster and Liam Davies also won five out of six each.

Market Bosworth A has also had a very good start to the season claiming victories in both of their opening fixtures. A seven sets to three win over Hit’n’Hope B was followed by a 9-1 win over Cat G. John Veasey (MB1) is also unbeaten after two matches.

Cat G have started well with two drawn matches. They held GWE to a five all draw, with newcomer Anna Tomczuk collecting a fine win over GWE’s Dave Richardson. In their next match Tomczuk was again outstandin­g winning all three against Hit’n’Hope A. With teammates Ben Bennett and Sue Wright collecting one each for the draw.

Hit’n’Hope A won their next match by defeating Market Bosworth 2 by 9 sets to 1. A special mention for young Harry Thomas (MB2) who had a fine win over The Doc Harrison winning 11-8 in the fourth.

Cat D took all 10 points against their own E team. Cat E then managed to draw with understren­gth G Ward E.

Other results Mkt Bosworth 2 nil –Mkt Bosworth 1 -10 and Hit’n’Hope B 3- Cat F 7.
