Musical based on life of actress set to hit town stage
FROM the infamous Ziegfeld Follies, to Hinckley’s Concordia Theatre stage, a musical about Fanny Brice will be performed at the Concordia Theatre in town.
Funny Girl the musical, based on the life and career of Broadway star, film actress and comedian Fanny Brice will feature some of the most iconic songs in film and theatre history.
Be prepared to join in with the chorus as famous hits including People and Don’t Rain on my Parade are belted out to the audience.
The musical classic tells the fascinating and bitter-sweet story of Brice, whose vocal talents and comedic ability see her rise from Brooklyn music hall singer to Broadway star.
Follow her story as she awaits the return of her husband, entrepreneur and gambler Nick Arnstein, amid their stormy relationship woes.
First produced by Ray Stark, the musical featured acting legend Barbra Streisand and skyrocketed her into a stratosphere from which she has never descended.
From its first production on Broadway in 1964, before its closure in 1967, Funny Girl completed its run of 1,348 performances and has since been revived in several countries across the world.
Most recently, a sell-out run of the musical came to London’s West End starring English actress, singer and dancer Sheridan Smith, before it embarked on a successful national tour.
It is now time for Hinckley to bring the worldwide phenomenon that is Funny Girl the musical, to the stage for its 2019 pro- duction.
Event organisers are confident that guests will not be disappointed by the production which will take place in February next year.
Box Office applications and online booking commences on Saturday October 20 for the first performance on Monday February 18, 2019.
