New defibrillator in place in the town
LIFE-SAVING medical equipment is now just minutes away for anyone who suffers a cardiac arrest thanks to a local recruitment company.
Located near the town centre, opposite the site of the old leisure centre, the new defibrillator has been provided by S and L Personnel’s Hinckley-branch, and will supply potentially life-saving treatment for anyone who may find themselves in danger.
The device gives a high-energy electric shock to the heart through the chest wall to someone who is in cardiac arrest, it is easy to operate and step-bystep instructions are provided for members of the public to use in emergency.
Automatic external defibrillators are becoming an increasingly common sight in public places across the country and they have already been used to save many lives.
Andrew McQuillan, Director of S and L Personnel, said: “We are proud to provide this new defibrillator for the community and I’d like to thank KLB Electrical for the installation.
“Let’s hope it’s never needed but should an emergency arise this side of town it could ultimately save someone’s life.
“I would urge people to be aware of all of the defibrillators in your local area.
Mr McQuillan added, “All of the staff based at our Hinckley branch will be trained in the use of the AED’s should they ever be required to offer assistance in an emergency.”
AED’s can be used in a medical emergency by phoning 999 and quoting the box number and location to the operator to retrieve a unique code which unlocks the cabinet casing.
