Hinckley run out easy winners scoring 13 tries

- Paul Goodwin

ON a fine sunny Armistice Day morning, Hinckley U15s ran out easy winners over Old Coventrians 85-0.

Hinckley U11s joined the U15s on the stadium pitch to observe a perfect two-minute silence.

Hinckley continue to play excellent, disciplined running rugby as they ran in thirteen unanswered tries against a gutsy OC side.

Here is a list of the tries Hinckley scored.

Try 1 came within three minutes of their own KO. Hinckley forced a penalty just inside OC half, which was kicked to touch setting up a line out on OC 10-metre line. Hinckley formed a driving maul from the line out pushing the big OC pack over the goal line, the ball eventually grounded by Burton.

Try 2 was five minutes later with Allen linking with Jaques who powered through OC defence to score under the posts. Allen converting his first of eight conversions.

Try 3 followed Hinckley winning their own scrum on the half way line, the ball fed through the backs as Full Back Golding joined the line to score under the posts.

Try 4 came after OC first real pressure of the game, Hinckley turned the ball over on their own try line, Allen with a delightful chip over OC advancing line to find Jaques who ran the length of the pitch to score under the posts.

Try 5 - OC heads were now dropping, as Burton collected the kick off, off - loaded to Allen “out the back door” who found Moore in support to sprint around his opposite number to score under the posts.

Try 6 was again straight from kick off as Hinckley collected the ball and ran at OC. Prop Goodwin found himself in the back line and off-loaded to L. Whittingham on the wing to glide down the right flank to score.

Try 7 - Hutton stole the ball from an OC maul inside the Hinckley ten-meter line, finding Underwood who in turn found Jaques to score a fine hat-trick.

Try 8 was the nail in the coffin for a beaten OC side, Burton picking up a loose ball spilled by OC back line to score under the posts. And end the first half Hinckley 52 – Old Coventrians 0.

Fair play to Old Covs who agreed to carry on for the second half knowing they were already beaten.

Try 9 came within five minutes of the restart, Moore finding Smith who stepped his opposite number to score under the posts.

Try 10 - straight from KO, Burton collecting the ball and ran straight through the deflated OC side to complete his hat-trick under the posts.

Try 11 - OC penalty kick did not find touch, which was punished by Hinckley who fed the ball through the complete back line to Dewfield on the wing to score under the posts.

Try 12 saw Hinckley force a penalty on their ten–metre line, which was taken quickly and fed through the backs to A. Whittingham to score under the posts. He converted his own try.

Hinckley’s final try came after a late push from OC looking for a consolation try, Smith gathered the ball within the Hinckley goal area to run the length of the pitch and score under the posts.
