Airbag safety warning issued by fire service

Hinckley Times - - NEWS -

A VIVID warning about airbag safety was issued by firefighters.

Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service Hinckley Station posted a video showing airbags deploying in different parts of a car, including from the steering wheel, the side of a passenger seat and behind the bumper.

One clip showed a dummy with its head resting on a steering wheel, which was violently flung back by the force of the airbag.

The group posted the slow motion video on its Facebook page.

It said: “This is one for our colleagues in East Midlands Ambulance Service and Leicestershire Police / Hinckley Police.

“When attending a road traffic collision, be wary of undeployed airbags and keep a safe distance from them.

“For the public check the last video of the person (dummy) that’s too close to the steering wheel airbag.

“Never put your feet up on the dashboard. #999Family #NotJustFires #ControlledDetonation.”
