War of the Worlds coming to the Concordia Theatre
JOIN the Concordia theatre as they hope to recreate an infamous moment in radio history - the live US radio broadcast by the Orson Welles Company of The War of the Worlds.
The broadcast which played out to America on October 30 1939, reportedly caused chaos at the time as listeners across America believed that the radio dramatisation was in fact ‘live news’ and that reports of aliens attacking US cities were real.
For this recreation of the event, the cast at the Concordia will be assembling to play Orson Welle’s actors reading the original radio script.
The theatre’s sound engineer will play in live sound effects while residents across the town are invited to join the studio audience to bring you as close to the reality of a live recording session as possible.
Tickets to the event will be £6.50 and can be purchased from the theatre box office from Saturday December 1.
The broadcast will be recreated on Saturday February 16 and Sunday February 17.
