Boost for Christ­mas shop­ping in Hinck­ley

CHRIST­MAS shop­ping in Hinck­ley will be given a boost this year with free car park­ing in se­lected town cen­tre car parks on Satur­days in the run-up to Christ­mas.

In a joint ini­tia­tive spon­sored by Hinck­ley and Bos­worth Coun­cil (HBBC) and sup­ported by Hinck­ley BID (Busi­ness Im­prove­ment District) and North War­wick­shire and Hinck­ley Col­lege, the Bor­ough Coun­cil will be al­low­ing free park­ing in Lower Bond Street, Druid Street, Alma Road, Hol­liers Walk, Trin­ity Vicarage Road and Thor­n­ey­croft Road car parks ev­ery Satur­day in De­cem­ber in or­der to thank shop­pers for their loy­alty and to in­crease trade for shops and busi­nesses.

The free park­ing of­fer ap­plies from 9am on Satur­day 1, 8, 15 and 22 De­cem­ber. Shop­pers are re­minded that park­ing is free in all coun­cil run car parks on Sun­days through­out the year.

Shop­pers will also be able to park for free in the North War­wick­shire and Hinck­ley Col­lege car park ev­ery Satur­day in De­cem­ber. The car park, which is di­rectly be­hind the Atkins Build­ing, can be ac­cessed from Druid Street.

Ex­ec­u­tive Mem­ber for Town and Ur­ban Com­mu­ni­ties at the Bor­ough Coun­cil, Cllr Miriam Sur­tees said: “As ev­ery­one knows Satur­days in De­cem­ber are key trad­ing days for re­tail­ers and we trust this free of­fer will make Hinck­ley an even more at­trac­tive des­ti­na­tion for Christ­mas shop­pers to sup­port our town cen­tre busi­nesses by shop­ping lo­cal.”

Steve Wegerif, Direc­tor of Hinck­ley BID said: “We are grate­ful to HBBC and North War­wick­shire and Hinck­ley Col­lege for their help and urge shop­pers to buy lo­cal and take ad­van­tage of this cost sav­ing ini­tia­tive in the run-up to Christ­mas.”
