Appreciation for Trevor’s gift

Hinckley Times - - NEWS -

A RAILWAY enthusiast from Hinckley has been remembered with a donation to an ambitious project to create a full sized replica steam engine.

Trevor Burdett, who died aged 72 last year, left instructions for a donation of £500 to be made in his memory to the Nuneaton Railway Circle. He had been a member of the group for more than 30 years. He asked for the Nuneaton Railway Circle to choose a worthy railway cause and hand the money on.

Members of the Nuneaton Railway Circle chose the LMS Patriot Project to build a life sized replica of a Patriot steam locomotive. The locomotive is to be called The Unknown Warrior in memory of fallen servicemen and women.

The donation paid for a left hand cylinder cladding sheet.

Mrs Burdett was delighted to receive a certificate from the LMS Patriot project acknowledging in the donation.

When the locomotive is finished Nuneaton Railway Circle members plan a coach trip to see it in action.
