Sleep­ing Beauty at the Bel­grade The­atre

AS Christ­mas is just around the cor­ner it is time to get ready for the dreami­est pantomime per­for­mance as Sleep­ing Beauty heads to the Bel­grade The­atre.

Re­turn­ing for his 24th Bel­grade The­atre pantomime will be writer and direc­tor Iain Lauch­lan who is best known as the writer of the Bafta-win­ning se­ries The Twee­nies, among other pop­u­lar tele­vi­sion shows.

This year, Iain will be tak­ing on the role of Nanny McWheeze, joined by reg­u­lar part­ner in crime Craig Hollingsworth as Mud­dles the Jester.

To­gether the com­edy dou­ble-act will be work­ing to as­sist Prince Valiant, Joanna Thorne, on his quest to res­cue the sleep­ing princess Belle played by Melissa Brown-Tay­lor.

Sup­port­ing the he­roes as the good fairy will be Anna Mitcham - but set­ting out to foil their plans with cun­ning schemes will be Laura Judge as the wicked fairy Cara­bosse.

When Princess Belle pricks her fin­ger on an en­chanted spin­ning wheel, she is cursed to fall asleep for 100 years, that is un­less she is kissed by her one true love.

En­ter her knight in shin­ing ar­mour Prince Valiant, along with Nanny McWheeze and Mud­dles who col­lec­tively em­bark on an ad­ven­ture to save the princess from her ter­ri­ble fate.

Sleep­ing Beauty runs at the Bel­grade, Coven­try from Wed­nes­day Novem­ber 21 un­til Satur­day Jan­uary 5.
