Santa’s sleigh has been put up for families to capture the special day by taking a seat for a family selfie before indulging in some festive foods at the seasonally decorated Himalaya restaurant.

A special Supper with Santa experience is also on offer for families wanting to tuck into a traditiona­l turkey dinner with all the trimmings while singing along to Christmas favourites with Santa and his elves.

All of the zoo’s festive activities, besides the supper experience, will be free of charge for guests with a zoo admission ticket - which are also part of their exclusive no-nonsense ticket offer and can be purchased with a 30% discount when bought online.

Guests can enjoy the run up to Christmas surrounded by over 500 animals from now until December 31.

Market Bosworth, Santa Fun Run,

December 2 With a little fun for all the family, Market Bosworth’s Rotary Club is encouragin­g residents across the town to take part in the traditiona­l Santa Fun Run.

On Sunday December 2 the town hopes to be filled with Santas of all shapes and sizes as participan­ts gather at Market Bosworth Country Park.

A donation from each member taking part in the run will gain you entry into the event and a santa suit of your own.

Once the run is complete the jolly man himself will greet runners at his sleigh in the park as residents gather to watch the town’s Christmas tree light switch on, before the big man heads to neighbouri­ng villages.

Santa and his sleigh will be at Market Bosworth’s Market Square from 2pm till 7pm on Sunday December 2 before his journey of spreading Christmas joy continues.

Burbage, Christmas tree sale,

December 8 and 9 The village of Burbage will be hosting their 24th annual Christmas Tree sale and market to get you in the festive spirit this December.

As well as a huge selection of British Christmas trees to choose from, visitors will also be able to browse the stalls with local crafts and business folk selling their wares.

Freshly cut Christmas trees, artisan Christmas gifts, cakes, flower decoration­s, hot dogs and mulled wine will all be available on the weekend of Saturday December 8 and Sunday

St Francis Community Cente, Hinckley, Christmas wreath making workshop. December 9 St Francis Community Centre is hosting a Christmas wreath making workshop - the perfect opportunit­y to create your own all-natural festive wreath to display in your home.

All materials will be provided, with full guidance and a demonstrat­ion lead by Caroline Forbes.

For extra special creations, participat­ors are welcome to take along their own foliage and decoration­s to add their own unique spin on the traditiona­l front door decor.

The £20 ticket cost includes a hot drink and mince pie and booking for the workshop is essential.

The workshop will take place on Sunday December 9 from 2.30pm till 4.30pm.

Hinckley, Christmas Carol sing-a-long, December 14 Churches Together and Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council are inviting residents to sing Christmas Carols around the tree this December.

Locals are encouraged to join in the festive fun taking place in the Market Place from 4pm on Friday December 14.

All are welcome to attend and there is no joining fee, just simply turn up ready to sing for Christmas.

This year’s Santa hideaway will be decorated in the theme of the Concordia’s leading pantomime Beauty and the Beast bringing a magical fairytale twist to Christmas. To conclude the round-up of festive activities the National Space Centre is hosting a special pre-Christmas space day, which may even feature a visit from the jolly man himself.

On Friday December 21 the centre will be combining stories, songs and games as guests join the team to track Santa’s journey as he begins to deliver gifts to children all around the world.

Rumour has it that he may even make a special scheduled stop on his travels to visit all of the young astronauts who have been tracking him.

Santa Fun Runs, three venues in aid of Loros. December 2 and 9 Hundreds of people dressed as Santa will be taking part in a fun run to raise money for the Loros Hospice.

Organised by local Rotary Clubs, the fun runs will be taking place at three locations across the county.

There will be two events on Sunday December 2 in both Loughborou­gh and Lutterwort­h and the final event in Melton Mowbray on Sunday December 9.

The runs are for all the family and can be walked or ran, with some people even bringing their furry four-legged friends to join in on the festivitie­s.

The event will also have competitio­ns such as Best Dressed Festive Pooch where prizes will be awarded to winners.
