Hit ‘n’ Hope storm to vic­tory over ti­tle con­tenders Mar­ket Bos­worth

IN Di­vi­sion 1 of the Table Ten­nis League ti­tle con­tenders Mar­ket Bos­worth 1 sur­pris­ingly lost to Hit’n’Hope A by 3 sets to 7. The Doc Har­ri­son (H&H) was in out­stand­ing form col­lect­ing three fine wins in­clud­ing a close five game set with Bos­worth’s John Veasey, fi­nally win­ning the fifth 11-6 to col­lect the vic­tory. HIT ‘n’ Hope A con­tin­ued their win­ning ways col­lect­ing an­other vic­tory over Cat F by 9 sets to 1.

Hit’n’Hope B could not con­tain Cat G in their re­cent match, de­spite an ex­cel­lent two for Steve Law­ton (H&HB), they found the Des­ford side in good form. Anna Tom­czuk win­ning her three for Cat G. In their next match Cat G con­tin­ued their re­cent good form with a 9 sets to 1 win over Mar­ket Bos­worth B. Tom­czuk again un­beaten. She must cur­rently be the find of the sea­son for Cat G and re­mains un­de­feated in the league.

G Ward E had a good win over Cat F by 8 sets to 2, Dave Richard­son (GWE) win- ning his three. In their next game they col­lected an­other win, this time over their own G Ward F team. Richard­son again win­ning his three.

This was a much closer match than the score sug­gests with no fewer than eight sets go­ing to ei­ther four or five games. Young James Walker par­tic­u­larly un­lucky in his match with the im­proved Frankie Hal­lam just go­ing down 9-11 in the fifth. The young play­ers of G Ward F also lost to league lead­ers Cat D by 10 sets to 0. G Ward’s Tom Kelly tak­ing all three Cat D play­ers to four or five games be­fore los­ing all three.

Cat D re­peated the 10 sets to 0 score-line when they took on one of their ri­vals G Ward C. The Des­ford side have run into a fine vein of form at the mo­ment, which has taken them to the top of the table.

Mar­ket Bos­worth B fought hard in their re­cent match with Cat E just los­ing by 4 sets to 6. Leanne Ban­croft (MB2) col­lect­ing two wins, with her team-mates Lucy Nash and Jes­sica Clarke both win­ning their first games of the sea­son.

Con­grat­u­la­tions to Hast­ings High School Boys Un­der 16 team are Le­ices­ter­shire Schools County Cham­pi­ons, with good wins over Lime­hurst and English Mar­tyrs was fol­lowed by a com­pre­hen­sive win over Manor High School by 12 sets to 4 to se­cure their ti­tle. All four of the lads play for the Ge­orge Ward Club in the Hinck­ley League. They will now move on to play in the re­gional event shortly.
