Fightback not enough to close gap

Hinckley Times - - SPORT -

HINCKLEY Ladies C team were at home to Alec High this week in a rearranged fixture. Hinckley quickly found themselves falling behind as they adapted to a new formation with two players out.

However, they started to settle and drew closer being just two goals behind at the end of the first quarter. They battled hard but the accuracy of the Alec High Goal Shooter soon began to make an impact on the game, despite the relentless efforts of the Hinckley defence.

At the end if the third quarter Alec High had pulled ahead 35-25. In the final period Hinckley dug their heels in and gave it everything, managing to reduce the deficit but despite some great movement around the court, this was not enough to stop Alec High taking the game 40-32. WA Liz Gamble won POM for her great performance in attack.

There was a strong win for Hinckley U14s against Griff and Coton this Sunday. Going out confidently and keeping their focus, Hinckleys girls moved the ball quickly through the centre court to the eagerly waiting shooting team.

Strong passes and good communication saw another improved performance with great blocking leading to numerous defensive interceptions. Player of the match Katie Talbot.
