New boss takes over town building society

-

HINCKLEY and Rugby Building Society has welcomed its new chief executive.

Colin Fyfe previously held the same role at Darling Building Society and takes over from Chris White, who is retiring after 30 years with the group.

Mr Fyfe said that the society will continue to evolve its mortgage lending and saving products under his tenure as the ninth chief executive in the venture’s 153 years in operation.

He said: “We will offer different types of mortgages and services that will put more members of the community onto the housing ladder and enable them to save for a purpose.

“Leicestershire and Warwickshire is our home patch but we are a national business that can reinvest in our heartlands, in employment, in our suppliers and in our communities.”

Colin praised the long and fruitful service of his predecessor.

He said: “I applaud Chris White’s fundamental contribution to the Society being in such good health after a tumultuous period for financial services.

“He’s done a fantastic job of navigating the Society to this point.

“Now we are moving into the next stage of the evolution.

“It’s about taking the society forward, to provide the right services for our local and national customer base.

“The Hinckley and Rugby board is ambitious, forward looking and that’s what appealed to me.

“Our mutuality provides us with a deep connection to our members – our savers and our borrowers – and our branch network means we meet them daily face to face.

“We can listen to them, understand and, thanks to being a mutual, deliver what they want.”

Hinckley and Rugby chairman Colin Franklin said: “It is great to welcome Colin Fyfe to the Society.

“We look forward to this next chapter in our long history of serving our members, helping them to save and to buy their homes.

“With our new chief executive on board, his vision and experience will enable us to build on the sterling work of Chris White’s decade in the role.”
