Hinckley Times

Thankfully this paper deals with local issues

-

A nurse from Glenfield Hospital picked me up last week and we went for lunch.

She told me she heard that Father Frank Daly had caused controversy over his November 11 Remembrance Day Sunday speech.

Only when I read The Hinckley Times did I understand why.

He never even mentioned the Chinese, Russian etc. in the current age when causing nations to buy armaments.

Nor did he thankfully mention the Royal family, on whose behalf we defend our United Kingdom. Did I say United Kingdom? Sorry to say it is now more disunited than ever thanks to the European Union, 28 countries with such diverse needs and populations as to make it impossible to work however good our intentions.

May I also add that I have met dozens of Irish in my travels and that includes in the RAF in West Germany when I pulled out with many of them.

Bring in Tony Blair ex-PM, Gerry Adams, the late Martin McGuinness and the peace movement in Belfast. Good Friday looks a bit dodgy.

Thankfully The Hinckley Times deals with local issues and I wish my friends good health at this time of year.

My nurse today has a father who is a Gurkha so I do not upset her if possible.

Keep printing John Payne’s letters, what a brave man he is. Terry Langham
