Festive fair to raise cash for mum’s battle

A Barwell mum who is battling Lyme disease after being bitten by a tick is hosting a Winter Craft Fair to help her raise money for vital treatments abroad.

Mother-of-three Jordon Craddock, 28, is forced to take 32 tablets a day to tackle the condition which has left her suffering from daily bouts of fatigue, dizziness and nausea.

Jordon’s life was turned upside down after she caught the insect-borne disease after she believes she was bitten on her left hand by a tick while playing with her children in woodland at the bottom of playing fields in January 2017.

“I don’t feel like myself, it’s taken over my body completely,” says Jordon.

“Every day is a struggle for me with tiredness, headaches, nausea and brain fog. I am constantly in pain and in and out of hospital.

“If it wasn’t for my family, I don’t think I would be here.”

Jordon suffers from severe headaches and eye infections, with her eyesight worsening in her left eye and she wears a morphine patch to cope with the pain.

However, with all of the treatments, prescriptions and hospital visits, the young mum is aware that the disease is in fact incurable, though she is desperate for a better quality of life to enjoy her children and not have to sit on the sidelines watching them grow up while missing out on all the things she could be doing with them.

Jordon and her family are raising funds for medical treatment in Turkey as the NHS is very limited in the treatment it can provide, given how little understood the disease is in the UK.

Flights, treatment and accommodation in Turkey would cost Jordon in the region of £1700, to reach this figure - as well as other fundraising events - she has also set up a Gofundme page and sells bracelets and hoodies through her Facebook.

Jordon is hosting a Winter Craft Fair this Saturday offering last minute Christ- mas gifts, sweet cones, jewellery, wooden plaques, knitted gifts and light refreshments including tea and cakes at Barwell Scouts Hut in Barwell.

The event will take place on Saturday December 8 from 10am till 3pm and all proceeds will go towards Jordon’s Lyme treatment fundraiser.

?? ?? 28-year-old Jordon hopes the treatment will allow her to be able to enjoy a better quality of life to enjoy her three young children.
