Log cabins near village are turned down by planners
PLANNING permission was refused for three log cabins in a field near Cadeby.
Councillors at a Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council meeting refused permission for the three log cabin holiday homes in a field off Cadeby Lane. The refusal came after council officers had recommended the application be accepted.
A report by planning officers for councillors said: “The cabins would be located within a field which has a stable yard and associated buildings to the west and a long established holiday complex comprising lodges, a tea room and a caravan park to the east. Further to the south-east is the Rugby Club who also has a site which is used for camping on occasion. The area is already a hub for tourist accommodation and the proposed modest addition to these exiting uses would not cause any further significant harm to the countryside location and would complement the existing tourist accommodation.”
But councillors were against the plan with concerns the development didn’t complement or reflect neighbouring properties and have an adverse effect on the character of the countryside.
There were four letters of objection from people living nearby. There was also an objection from Market Bosworth Parish Council saying the cabins would set a precedent for development and spoil the views into the nearby conservation area.
