Two injured in crash

TWO men were taken to hospital – one in a serious condition – after a crash on a major Leicesters­hire route closed the road for three hours.

Leicesters­hire Police were called to a collision between two cars and a lorry in the A426 Lutterwort­h Road, Dunton Bassett, at 6.20am on Tuesday December 11.

One of the men suffered from serious injuries, which are not believed to be life-threatenin­g or life-changing, and the other man suffered minor injuries.

Both men were taken to Leicester Royal Infirmary by East Midlands Ambulance Service for treatment.

A 37-year-old man, from Leicester, has been arrested on suspicion of driving while under the influence of drugs.

The A426 Lutterwort­h Road was closed between the Dunton Bassett crossroads and Shuttlewor­th Lane after the incident.

One of the men was trapped in his vehicle and was rescued by Leicesters­hire Fire and Rescue Service.

A spokesman for Leicesters­hire Police said: “Officers were called to a three-vehicle collision in Lutterwort­h Road, at 6.18am. The incident involved a lorry and two cars.

“Two men were injured in the collision and were taken to the Leicester Royal Infirmary.

“One of the men suffered serious injuries. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatenin­g or lifechangi­ng.

“The other man suffered minor injuries. A 37-year-old man, of Leicester, has been arrested on suspicion of driving while under the influence of drugs.”
